On 15 March, at the 15th meeting of the Vietnam - Cambodia Joint Committee on economic, cultural, scientific and technological cooperation took place in Phnom Penh.
Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and the Cambodian High Rank Minister, Minister of Foreign Relations and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn co-chaired the meeting, with the participation of leaders from various ministries, sectors and localities of two countries.
In the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding, two parties agreed to enhance cooperation in such fields as: natural resources and environment, agriculture, forestry and fishery, energy, etc... and promotion of economic linkage between the two countries.
The two countries also affirmed their determination in finalizing the border lines and land marking soon in order to build peaceful and stable borderlines for mutual development.
At the same time, two parties also stressed the importance of protection and sustainable utilization of Mekong river water source; enhance cooperation with other countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion, Mekong River Committee, Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle and Cooperation among four countries of Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam, Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS).
At the meeting closing, the Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and the High Rank Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation signed a minute of understanding. According to this MOU, the 16th Vietnam-Cambodia meeting will be organized in Vietnam within 2018 at time as convenient for both countries.
